Artist's Statement

With my conceptual installations and sculptures I study social power structures, gender, sexuality and differences between sets of values in and through art. My works are based on queer-theories, postfeminism and activism.

I'm interested in the interaction between art and society and the political nature of art. Feministic, queer, lesbian and gay art, art activism, relation between public and private and the role of the spectator are other interesting issues.

In my works I use conceptualism, materiality, space and interactivity to question constructions of heteronormative society and to study the relation between society and individual. Inner tension of my works is produced by combinating spaces, materials and techniques that have been considered for example either masculine or feminine.

I want my works to touch different social groups and individuals. It's not in my intention to give ready underlined answers, but challenge the spectator through my works to think and understand different points of view.
